It's "Hooked On Friday" again. Did you go visit Hooked on Houses last Friday and click on all the links? It is fun to see how people interpret this challenge. For me it is difficult to narrow down what I am hooked on. Seems I am a hooked on kind of person.
One of the things I am hooked on is clocks. This is weird because I have never worn a watch. I am not time oriented. I am the one who finally looks up at the clock and says "wow, it is almost dinner time and I thought it was still morning."
The regulator clock below was purchased in a little clock shop on Long Island in the little town as you disembark from the Port Jefferson Ferry. We fell in love with it but had not brought the car over on the ferry, so we carried it back onto the ferry all the way back to CT. It was an awkward package. The clock, which chimes, no, bongs the hour and half hour is over 4 feet tall. It hangs in the front room that we use as a library, but it ticks loudly and can be heard all over the house unless you live here. We don't hear it anymore.
I have more than a dozen clocks not counting the alarm and digital clocks. My new favorite is not really a clock at all, but rather a clock assemblage. It too is quite large and about 4'x4', made from a base of really old wood, a cut up metal clock face and some rusty bits. It hangs on a two story wall in our dining room. To give you some perspective, the lamp is 32" tall.
Years ago I bought this art clock below at a craft show. It had birds on it. Too cute, so I altered it some, using a few stamps and removing the birds. Who knew birds would be back in style?
Your clocks are absolutely fabulous! I, too, have rarely worn a watch, but right now I'm only too aware of time -- my son is getting married tomorrow, and the festivities leading up to that event begin in just a few short hours. I guess I'd better shut down this computer and get on with it -- I'm glad I had a chance to take a look at your wonderful (as always) post.

Seriously awesome clocks!!! I like watches but I never wear them. Between my husband and myself we must have close to 15 or 20 watches in various states of deadness in the house. hahah I keep thinking I will make some fantastic watch critter one of these days. :) What we are really hooked on are rugs. Partly because we rent and like having our own splashes of colour on the floor vs what comes with the place and partly because we really love the patchwork mosaic of different carpets all over the floor. Like a Moroccan tent floor or something. I think we have like 12 floor rugs all told in a 3 room house. Over regular carpet and everything. :)
:D
You have such excellent taste in things. Maybe your next store should be a cafe book store, decorated in your style. John can man the coffee and you can suss out all the most awesome books and customers can munch on pastries and admire your art on the walls. :D Waaaaaiiiiitt, maybe that's my dream store. hahaha
