This is John's work from last week. Last summer, we had bought some old non-working alarm clocks for the parts. John deconstructed them and saved even the tiniest gear and stem. The latest result is above. He constructed the box, painted it and then added clock and watch gears, vintage clock face, old clock hands, clock mainspring and winding keys, corrugated cardboard, folding yardstick, optical lens, wooden disks, spools, waxed linen, moldings, game pieces and oh my, teeny tiny gears and stems. He had to use tweezers to place some of the tiny pieces. I think it is my favorite piece so far. He is having so much fun.
My morning was pretty happy. I got on my computer and discovered that my book from yesterday's post had already sold! Quite a few of you e-mailed me to ask if I had more. I have about 5 in varying stages of completion in the works. It is time consuming to finish the inside pages so it will most likely be a week before they are ready. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am so enjoying the process.
I mentioned that John works in his workshop down in the manroom (finished basement) and I work in my art room on the 2nd floor of our house. We communicate in a most sophisticated way. We call each other through the vents. It works really well. We are constantly up and down the two flights of stairs borrowing bits and sharing our progress. I can't remember when life was so full of fun. Lucky.

Ginny; Glad to have a part in making you happy this morning. It was I who had to have the book. I, too, make books but sell most of them or have given some away. I wanted to treat myself as I never receive books as gifts. Therefore, I can't wait for it to come in the mail. Impulse purchase? Perhaps. Worth it? Totally! Hope you have more happy days to come with future book purchases.
Regards, Donna M

That is a fabulous piece. I love the manroom idea! I think just about any noun is hilarious with the word man as a prefix!
My husband is starting to venture into artistic creativity now in increments. He certainly knows what to look out for now when we're collecting. I've kind of taken over a lot of art spaces in the house and have left garage and basement to him.
He has his "museum" room which is definitely a manroom with his collections of rocks, coins and collectibles. He has more enclosed manspace in our Alaskan home only because it was set up before I arrived.
