Happy Mother's Day to all of you who are moms and grandmoms. Isn't it lovely that Hallmark and the flower industry created this fabulous day just for us? Two of my kids live far away and one close. I wish all of our kids lived just a short drive from us. Tim, the close one, brought his family over for a barbeque. Easy enough for all to relax and just visit. John and Joey played the obligatory game of chess. Joey is pretty good at it and John does not let him win, but patiently points out better strategy for Joey who will be winning any day now, fair and square.
Friday night we went to our first ever auction. We sat back and watched for most of the night to get a feel for how it works. It goes so fast! We were not quick enough to win a few nice pieces, but we learned quite a bit. It was entertaining and great fun to watch and to participate even on a very small scale.
There was quite an interesting array of goods. The "regular" who was sitting next to me gave me a ton of interesting information and tips. Everyone was really friendly. The auction thinned out almost completely when the thunder, lightning and strong winds began. A tornado was predicted, but did not show up. The storm was extremely dramatic and awe-inspiring not to mention frightening. We arrived home at it's peak.
Wow I would love to be there looks amazing in your pictures

Have just caught up on your blog! Love your spring pictures :) Keep them coming! We're in full blown autumn now, trees are turning a nice shade of amber and red.
