Buzzard!
We were driving down Route 83 today when we noticed a tree full of huge birds.
They were watching a man planting his vegetable garden below. I would have gone in the house if I were the man.
After all, there were about 20 of these big guys. We were sure they were buzzards also known as Turkey Vultures.
There is a town in Ohio, Hinckley, that has been keeping records for over 50 years on the buzzards. They return every year exactly on March 15! The Metro Parks here have a special buzzard watch on that day and the gathered folks are always rewarded with flocks of buzzards arriving to the park. There are historical papers that mention the buzzards there in Hinckley as far back as 1816. This is the first time we have seen them near our home.

I am constantly finding Ohio amazing.
Thank you all who commented and emailed for the good anniversary wishes. I have always felt anniversaries were just between the two people who were celebrating, but I wanted to share my feelings with everyone. John and I are so lucky to have found each other.
Back to business...there are stil a couple of spots left in the Cloth Paper class on Saturday morning.
Check the website for details and supplies needed.
"When the Buzzards come back to Hinckley, Ohio" just doesn't have the same ring as "When the swallows come back to Capistrano" :)
