We have been gone for a few days. Spontaneously we decided to go to this huge antique show that is held at a Fairground about 3-4 hours away from us. We had been reading about it for a few years, but never did anything about it.
The drive was lovely. We passed through quaint little 200 year old towns that are typical of Ohio. I have shared many photos of these lovely little towns in the past with you. We even passed a few llama farms.
I don't know why they are in OH but it probably mimics the climate in their native country. They appeared to have just been sheared. They look funny to me like an elongated goat. Look how long their necks are. We lived near a llama farm in the Netherlands years ago and made the mistake of going near the fence to have a closer look. They spit at us. This time we parked across the street and used the camera to get closer.
We decided to have the whole antique/flea market experience. We drove down the day before it began. We got up very early the first day of the show, breakfasted and were in line to get in before 7AM when it opened. We had very high expectations and we were definitely not disappointed. We had so much fun. Two days of shopping and browsing and making a few scores made us very happy explorers.
John was after old rusty, dusty stuff.
After all, he is getting geared up for Michael DeMeng's workshop next month and we all know how the author of Dusty Diablos likes his rusty stuff.
There was a wonderful selection of old vintage and antique furniture at this show. We were wishing we had brought a big U-Haul truck with us, but we still managed to come home witha full trunk and back seat. Recycling at it's best!
I mentioned that it was held at a fairground. Here is proof:
That is John to the right of the photo with our big red cart. We filled it twice! Every building and every grassy space was filled with vendors. It was just great.
Here is some of our haul:
Besides the above we also found some old street signs, gas station signs, big old railroad numbered nails, vintage game cards to replenish Small Studio stock, ephemera and lots more. We will have a booth at StampawayUSA August 13-14th in Sharonville (Cincinnati). We are trying to shore up our stock for that show. Put it on your calendar and come see us there.
